Hello there, Kav P here!

A multimodal artist, content creator, performer and musician who wears too many hats but prefers a bowler

What I Do

Lovely to meet you. I’ve been putting things online since the year 2000, from the Sonic the Hedgehog fan character I drew as a teenager to the video essays and music I produce today.

Besides making video essays and silly songs, though, I dabble in a lot of different things. I lampoon the manosphere and grifter culture, stream video games and dramatic readings of comics and weird books, take photos and write about my various travels, hold ‘bad movie’ nights, draw art and comics (coming soon), and even do monster drag as Kavya Leer. Chances are, if you can think of something creative, I’ve probably dabbled or am considering dabbling. I’m also now reflecting on what a strange word ‘dabble’ is.

Who I Am

I was born and raised in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia), but have lived all over the place, including Japan, Argentina and Belgium, to name just a few.

As a recovering sociolinguist and multi-lingual translator who is now completing a PhD in what can only be described as “deconstructing white nonsense”, my hobby is using humour and pop culture to promote critical thinking, in order to make our complex world a little bit easier to understand.

I believe that it is possible to explain difficult concepts simply, without simplifying the issues themselves, and I will always prioritise nuance over sensationalism. It’s easy to say “Nazis are bad” and get a pat on the back. It’s much more satisfying, however, to explore the systems slowly put in place over time which allowed the Nazis to be “bad” in the first place!

I’m always up to collaborate, especially with other Global Majority (BIPoC) people. Just find me somewhere online and reach out!
